Kate Kunath is an Emmy Award winning Director and Executive Producer/ Showrunner known for her documentary, non-fiction and branded works.
In 2018, Kunath won a Primetime Emmy in the category of Outstanding Short Form Non-Fiction Series for ANTHONY BOURDAIN'S EXPLORE PARTS UNKNOWN: LITTLE LOS ANGELES, which she directed and executive produced. Kunath directed and produced several award winning projects with Bourdain and his partners at Roads and Kingdoms, including THE PERFECT DISH and THE RETURN to CATALUNYA.
She recently partnered with Hello Sunshine to executive produce and direct IN HER ELEMENT, an innovative documentary highlighting women in tech, created and shot in XR (extended reality).
During the pandemic she regularly contributed to BBC Travel and BBC Reel. Her short doc film, SHOW ME THE WAY (Topic.com) was shortlisted in 2019 for the International IDA Awards. Her first feature length doc WE CAME TO SWEAT premiered at OUTFEST/NEWFEST and toured the international festival circuit.

Kunath is a regular contributor to the Outwords Archive and a frequent contributor to many feature length documentary projects and non-fiction shorts. Kunath holds a BA from the University of Washington and an MFA from Hunter College in NYC. She is currently based in Los Angeles.
